Rolling Stones top 500 Albums of all time: #144 Led Zeppelin, 'Physical Graffiti' 1975

This is type type of album I was hoping to have highlighted when I started this exercise. I know it, I love it, I added it to my liked album list.

Rolling Stones top 500 Albums of all time: #145 Eminem, 'The Marshall Mathers LP' 2000

This album came out when I was an adult.

I was not keyed into any subcultures around music. I went to work, played rugby and went out drinking. Although the songs are listed as all having explicit verses, and thus not radio friendly, they would still find their way to a square like me, either via radio edits, or movies.

I recognize that this album and Eminem are recognized as great, and I do enjoy them, but never thought of myself as an Eminem fan.

I am going to favorite this album, I hope to hear more of it in my recommendations.

Rolling Stones top 500 Albums of all time: #146 Blondie, 'Parallel Lines' 1978

I was ten years old when this album came out. I did not yet own a radio in my room, but I did own a tape recorder and a couple cassettes. Listening to this album I don't recall all of the specific songs, but the sound is very familiar.

One Way or Another was a huge hit and has not gotten a lot of air time in the last thirty years. I don't have any evidence for this but I would guess I have heard it most in tv shows or movies that wanted to give a late 70's early 80's vibe to their performance.

Rolling Stones top 500 Albums of all time: #147 Jeff Buckley, 'Grace' 1994

Meh.

Waiting for excellence.

There must be a lot about music that I don't understand. Or maybe even moderately good music is harder to come by than I think. I mean 500 albums is a lot.

This just doesn't sound like it would make anyone's top lists.

Rolling Stones top 500 Albums of all time: #148 Frank Ocean, 'Channel Orange' 2012

I leave my Spotify account with the filter to remove all songs with explicit lyrics. This unfortunately eliminates most of this album.

Many of the tracks available to listen to were not songs.

The two songs I did like were Forrest Gump and Bad Religion.

Rolling Stones top 500 Albums of all time: #149 John Prine, 'John Prine' 1971

I know I started this album one already, but I never wrote the review. So I will listen again.

"Illegal Smile" is a fun quite song about getting high, without mentioning drugs.

"Spanish Pipedream" is also a song that sounds almost juvenile, like something you would hear on Sesame Street. You know except that lyrics. It is very sing-songy, and I like it.

"Hello in There" displays John's complete confidence in his story telling ability. He strums the chords and tells the story. Throws in a couple verses that are not directly related to the story and then ties it all up with a nice ending. All in 4:30.

"Sam Stone" omg. this is so heartbreaking. All it does is shine a mirror on post Vietnam war in America. We have to do better.

Rolling Stones top 500 Albums of all time: #150 Bruce Springsteen, 'Nebraska' 1982

Bruce is a great story teller. These songs make great background music as you are working or having your best friend over for some coffee and retelling your own stories. Yet anytime you pause the lyrics at just about any point in the album paint a picture to occupy your mind. I wish I had the time to sit and just listen to the whole album, just me and Bruce.

I also gave up on the idea of listening to all the albums from 500 to 1.
